Mother’s Day

Monday, May 14th, 2012

I am always amazed at the beautiful bits & pieces that come home with my children from school and daycare.  The teachers and carers go to so much effort and they don’t just pull on our heart-strings, they wage a full tug-of-war!  Yesterday, I was brought to tears by the simplest of things…my son gave me a brown paper bag filled with very random, everyday items.  However, the note that accompanied them was so precious and amusing I had to share it with you.

A Mother’s Day pack just for you, Mum.

  • A pencil – because you colour my day
  • A Smartie – because you are so smart and always know what to do
  • A rubber band – to remind you that you need to be flexible!
  • A paperclip – because you know how to hold everything together
  • A marble – for when you lose yours
  • Googly eyes – for when you need eyes in the back of your head
  • A Band Aid – for when things go a little wrong
  • A chocolate heart – to remind you that I love you.

From everyone here at Alex&Ant we hope you all had a very special day.

A little break…

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

My close girlfriend from Perth and myself met up in Bali last week, for a little R&R before school starts. I love the textures, the food, the colours, the contrasts and the climate. It was the ultimate ‘Pamper Mom’ holiday and the highlight was a facial and massage overlooking the ocean from our cliff-hugging treatment room at the Karma Kandara. I think my photos speak for themselves…

If anyone wants some venue or villa recommendations, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

Invisible Zinc

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

I’m always on a quest to find beauty products that deliver multiple benefits for a busy Mum.  Another prerequisite is that you can put it on whilst driving the car (with or without stopping!).  The new Invisible Zinc UV Skin Shield certainly ticks the boxes for me.

  • Skin Shield comes in a neat stick that you can apply directly to the skin, so no mess.
  • It blends with your fingers but doesn’t leave a greasy residue that you want to wipe on the closest textile!
  • It can be applied all over for excellent coverage or as a concealer to even out skin tone – it’s a winner under those tired eyes.
  • The product feels amazing on the skin – it’s neither a foundation or a powder but an amazing hybrid (my fabulous interpretation).
  • Of course, it “guards your skin from UV rays, pollutants and environmental aggressors, helping to combat the effects of everyday UV (the silent wrinkler).”  Gotta love this concept of something sinister working very quietly, waiting in the wings, until….arghh!
  • SPF 30.
  • Water & apparently gym resistant (haven’t been lately!)
  • Gives a natural matt finish that brightens the skin (their word is “luminous”) without silly shiny or pearlescent bits in it.

I purchased the “Light” as I have pale skin, but it seems you could use this colour as a highlighter under the eyes and blend either “Medium” or “Tan” in other zones to suit your skin tone.  This complicates things for me, so I’m very happy with the one-stick-does-all.  At $42.00 RRP I’m super impressed and I’ll be trying their Tinted Moisturising Luxury Lip Balm next – it looks delicious with just a hint of pink and it’s chock full of good stuff.  For someone with tight, burnt lips at the moment, I’m definitely in the market.

Pamper Mom~Kevin.Murphy

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Whilst we know that buying gorgeous clothes & accessories for your little ones is a lot to do with what you love them to wear, don’t you get the feeling that they get all the good stuff? I know most of my spare money is spent on my children and, sure, it gives me a real thrill when they look gorgeous. However, I’m often left wondering when I’ll have the money or time to pamper myself.

So, as I washed my hair this morning I thought it might be great to write a ‘Pamper Mom’ blog. I’m sure there are a few blogs floating around on the subject, but I think it will really add to our repertoire. Let me know what you think! And PLEASE feel free to submit some ideas.

Let’s only review Australian made product that meets the same high quality and style standards as ALEX&ANT. Also, let’s keep it accessible & affordable because although we might once have been Crème De Le Mer girls, we’re probably all pretty satisfied with Palmers Cocoa Butter these days. It’s all about the simple things that can be achieved in a short amount of time and without the extra expenditure of child care.

I’ll shout my first “hoorah” for Kevin.Murphy hair products. I rarely get to enjoy a shower without a million cries for “Muuuuuum!”, but this morning I was transported somewhere else by the texture and fragrance of the ‘Hydrate-Me’ Wash & Rinse. The “Kakadu Plum infused moisture delivery system” worked wonders on my feeling of wellbeing and my hair, plus the beautiful lilac colours of the packaging also contribute to the experience. I’ve never been to Kakadu but this morning I went to me. (Corny song lyric reference, sorry.)

It probably all sounds a bit OTT, but I promise you’ll thank Kevin (and possibly me). Seek out for your nearest salon and consult a hairdresser on the best range for your hair or visit www.kevinmurphy.com.au.

Enjoy!  Love Fleur x
